A Summer Solstice Celebration at Farnham Castle: Lex & Harry's Elegant Floral-Filled Wedding

There's something undeniably magical about a midsummer wedding, and Lex and Harry's celebration at the historic Farnham Castle in Surrey captured that perfectly. Held on the summer solstice, their day was filled with flowers, love, and thoughtfully curated details, each chosen to reflect their romantic and elegant style.

From our very first conversation, I knew this wedding would be special. Lex reached out to me, already dreaming of delicate sugar flowers and refined design. She had recently seen one of my cakes with handmade foxgloves and couldn't get them out of her mind. Although foxgloves weren't featured in the couple's floral arrangements, they were non-negotiable for the cake. It was clear from the start that she had a beautiful vision filled with elegance, colour, and meaning, and I couldn't wait to bring it to life.

Lex and Harry designed their day to be both deeply personal and wonderfully welcoming. Their celebrations began with an intimate religious ceremony in the castle's chapel, witnessed only by their closest family. After their vows, they slipped away together for a quiet moment.

Then came the grand ceremony in Farnham Castle's Lantern Hall, where the rest of their guests gathered to celebrate the couple's union. The space was dressed in beautiful floral arrangements in soft pastel shades: Blush pinks, baby blues, creamy whites, and lilacs. Lex's bridesmaids wore flowing sage green gowns, beautifully offsetting the romantic colour palette. Harry and his groomsmen, in black tie, which added a touch of formal elegance to the day.

Following the ceremony, guests lined the steps leading up to the castle, ready to shower the newlyweds in confetti as they made their grand exit as Mr & Mrs.

Drinks and canapés followed on the front lawn, accompanied by the soft tunes of a live pianist. The atmosphere was relaxed, just as Lex and Harry had hoped. While the couple slipped away for a few more photographs, a live sketch artist quietly captured precious moments, a unique and treasured touch for each guest.

As the sun set in the sky, a live band played on the lawn and in a lovely twist on tradition, Lex and Harry invited their guests to join them for an informal first dance on the grass, before heading inside for the official first dance later that night.

The guests then gathered again in the Great Hall for the cake-cutting. The design we created together reflected the entire day: romantic and graceful. Lex and Harry envisioned a wild meadow-style cake, drawing inspiration from their wedding flowers with the foxgloves Lex had fallen in love with. Each sugar flower was carefully selected and created to mirror the colours of their fresh flowers, delicate lilac, soft pink, and touches of blue and white.

Inside, the flavours were just as thoughtfully chosen: Cherry Bakewell for the top tier, chocolate orange for the middle, and Cookies and Cream for the base, a definite crowd-pleaser.

Every couple I work with brings something unique and beautiful to the table, and Lex and Harry were no exception. Their wedding was a perfect balance of elegance, personality, and heartfelt moments—just the celebration I love to be part of.
