Your wedding cake is so much more than just a cake. It creates a centrepiece for your wedding breakfast and is often one of the sweetest highlights of your day.
But I know that planning the perfect cake can feel overwhelming, with so many choices around flavours, design, size, and even dietary requirements.
That's why I've compiled answers to the most common questions that couples ask when beginning their wedding cake journey, to guide you through the process with confidence and inspiration. Whether you envision a timeless classic or something uniquely beautiful, these FAQs will help you create your perfect cake.
Do you offer cake samples?
Yes, I offer postal cake sample boxes, perfect for sampling cake in the comfort of your own home.
Each box contains six different sponge flavours:
Three of the most popular flavours from my menu
Three flavours carefully selected by me
Sample boxes are £35 and are sent via Royal Mail Tracked 24, so they typically arrive within 24–48 hours of posting.
Can we have each tier a different flavour?
Absolutely. Having different flavours in each tier is one of the best ways to ensure as many guests as possible enjoy your cake. Offering variety helps cater to different tastes, and usually means very little cake goes to waste.
If you’d like a little more guidance when it comes to choosing flavours, I’ve written a separate blog all about how to choose the perfect flavours for your wedding cake, with tips to help you balance personal favourites with crowd-pleasers.
How much cake will we need?
I generally recommend catering for around 75% of your total guest count, as not everyone will choose to eat cake.
Unless you are serving it as dessert, then everyone will need a slice.
For a more detailed look at portion sizes and tier combinations, you might find my blog on how to choose the right size for your wedding cake helpful when planning your numbers.
Do you offer free-from options?
I cater for most dietary requirements, including a range of free-from options. Any dietary needs should be discussed at the time of booking so I can guide you to the most suitable and delicious choice for you and your guests.

When will the cake be delivered on the day?
I arrange the safe delivery and setup of your wedding cake directly with your venue.
For weddings held at one location, I usually arrive 2–3 hours before the ceremony. This allows plenty of time to carefully set up your cake, complete the handover with the venue team, and take a few photographs before your guests begin to arrive.
Do you provide a cake stand and knife?
Many venues include a cake stand and knife as part of their package, but I always recommend checking in advance, particularly as the style of stand may not suit your overall cake design.
If you'd prefer not to use the venue's stand, I have cake stands available to hire (knives are not included). I'm also happy to advise on purchasing a stand if you'd like something you can reuse after your wedding day.

Can you freeze the top tier or any leftovers?
Yes, all of my cakes are suitable for freezing. You'll receive a detailed guide to freezing and defrosting both a whole tier and individual slices so that you can enjoy your cake again at a later date.
What are your payment terms?
To secure your wedding date in my diary, a £100 save-the-date payment is required.
The remaining balance is then split as follows:
50% of the remaining balance is due three months before your wedding
The final 50% is due one month before your wedding day
If you're booking with less than three months' notice, a £100 save-the-date payment is still required, with the remaining balance due one month before the wedding.
For bookings made within one month of your wedding date, full payment is required to secure your booking.
What's your cancellation and refund policy?
If you need to cancel your order, the following applies:
More than three months before your wedding: The save-the-date payment is forfeited and non-refundable.
Less than three months but more than one month before your wedding: The save-the-date payment and the second payment are forfeited.
Less than one month before your wedding:The save-the-date payment, second payment, final payment, and any additional fees are payable in full.
Do you have insurance and hygiene training?
I am fully insured and have a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate. I've also completed additional training on food allergens.
I can provide copies of my certificates if you'd like to review them for your own peace of mind.
I hope these answers provide clarity and inspire ideas for creating a cake that is uniquely yours. And if you're hungry for more guidance, tips, and inspiration, be sure to check out more of my blog posts, where I dive into even more questions couples ask and share real wedding inspiration.
