Charlotte & Rob’s Elegant Wedding at Botleys Mansion

April 12, 2025 Jo Harper

In March last year, Charlotte and Rob tied the knot at Botley’s Mansion, a wedding venue that is as beautiful as their love story.

It brings me a huge amount of joy to be able to share a snippet from their celebration with you, as well as an insight into their wedding cake journey.

The couple got in touch with me around 18 months ahead of the big day, but due to distance they were unable to meet me in person. But this didn’t hold us back in having an exciting and creative meeting online, where we took the time to discuss every detail of their dream wedding cake.

From the very beginning, Charlotte had fallen in love with my sugar flowers (a signature element of my wedding cake designs) and had always known she wanted me to create her cake because of this.

The bride’s vision was clear: she wanted a creation that exuded elegance, with a subtle amount of glitter and a touch of texture.

To bring their wedding cake vision to life, I suggested adapting one of my most popular designs, ‘Georgina’. Renowned for its timeless aesthetic and elegant details, Charlotte and Rob adored the overall look of their cake, but we chose to add a few extra elements to make it uniquely theirs.

One of the standout features was the 30mm acrylic discs carefully placed in-between the cake tiers. Not only do they look modern yet minimalist, but the discs also add height to a wedding cake, creating a sense of grandeur and impact. Plus, the discs allow for light to pass through which gives the cake an ethereal glow.

The base of the cakes featured glitter for that extra sparkle, capturing the luxury that Charlotte wanted.

Of course, the wedding cake wasn’t complete without my handcrafted sugar flowers.

Charlotte opted for large sugar roses, delicate gypsophila and lots of foliage (one of my favourite combinations).

The blooms added a lush, blousy and romantic feel, while working in harmony with the fresh floral arrangements by Fine Flower Company that adorned Botleys Mansion on their wedding day.

With flowers at every turn, the venue looked and smelt incredible, offering Charlotte and Rob’s loved ones an immersive and sensory experience.

Flavour was of equal importance to Charlotte and Rob, who selected three classic flavours: vanilla, salted caramel and lemon. The groom had one special request – to make the lemon flavour extra lemony, so I crafted a sponge that was vibrant and zesty.

The flavours perfectly complemented one another, with the sweetness of the vanilla and the buttery notes of salted caramel working alongside the citrus sponge.

Charlotte and Rob’s love for the band, Oasis, was peppered throughout various elements, from the table names to their first dance. They said, ‘I Do’, in the Green Room before enjoying their wedding breakfast in the breath-taking Atrium.

Creating the couple’s luxury wedding cake was an utter joy. The design and flavour choices reflected their elegant and personal style, with just the right amount of sparkle.

Should you be looking for a delicious and beautiful wedding cake for your big day, please do get in touch to find out more.
